Internationally known evangelist and Charismatic preacher Dr PP Job passed away yesterday, August 19, after suffering a massive heart attack.

Dr Job (67) was travelling Hungary to preach at a church in Tiszanagyfalu.

"It is with deep regret we announce that Dr PP Job has left this world to meet his maker on August 19 at 6.15 pm IST," stated a note on Job's website.

"After the Sunday morning service he returned to the home where he was staying to rest. There he had a massive heart attack and in spite of the best efforts of the doctors he could not be revived," the note informed.

Dr Job has worked as an evangelist since 1963, working especially amongst the persecuted church in the Communist and the Muslim world. He was the President of International Christian Association - the worldwide Christian Mission amongst the persecuted believers founded by Rev Richard Wurmbrand. He worked actively in this organisation for 33 years.

In June of 1999, following the failed attempt on Job’s life, radical Hindus killed his 21 year old son, Michael by running him down with a car near the medical school where he was studying to become a doctor.

At his son's funeral, Dr Job proclaimed, "[Losing my son] was like having my right arm cut off. But I will still serve God with my left arm."

The very next year, in 2000, Job began the Michael Job Center to provide a sanctuary for the daughters of martyred persecuted and destitute Christians. Currently there are approximately 500 girls at the Centre who have come from all over India.

"A relentless crusader, he was constantly on the move ignoring his own health and he was a true soldier who continued faithful even under adverse conditions," said Christian columnist MPK Kutty who knew Dr Job since his initial days in Delhi.

"With a heavy heart I received the message of Dr Job's passing away in Hungary. We had known each other since the time I landed in Delhi in 1968 and witnessed his labours in Lord's vineyard."

"He is a miracle and God's special creation," adds Kutty, who eulogises the renowned evangelist as a groundnut vendor and Communist who would "become a modern hero for Jesus Christ in a world that is a still a threat to His disciples".

It was rather unexpected and shocking to hear the heartbreaking news that my personal friend has left us all. He was a great man of God, with a great passion and purpose in the ministry. No other person of Indian origin has reached more people with the message of the gospel through mega crusades and literature work as he did. Also, he had been to 129 countries of the world to preach the gospel. He has stayed with me in the U.S., and I had the honor to be his guest in New Delhi; and those days were memorable days of fellowship and laughter. We all lost a great man of GOD, this is a very terrible loss for the Christians of India.

There have been too few times in my life when I have been blessed, to not only know people of great influence, but also to be a part of the work that God called them to do. Today I can say that Dr. P.P. Job is one of the greatest, influential people that I have met in my life as an Evangelist. I cannot even begin to describe this man of God, without perhaps missing one of the many and beautiful qualities he had. Although it would have been a great honor to meet Billy Graham, an evangelist that an entire world knows by name, God has given me an even better opportunity—to get to know Dr. P.P. Job, who has been named the “Billy Graham of India,” and who has worked next to Richard Wurmbrand, the respected evangelist of Romania. I have been blessed to know Dr. Job and even more, I have been blessed to work with him in the Christian Board of Missions and the “Michael Job Institution.” Being able to work with him, I have realized how much he and his wife have dedicated in order to be Christian witnesses for the country of India and even the world. I have also traveled with Dr. P.P. Job to many different states in America, where he preached passionately to various Romanian communities. The time I spent with him was a time in which I learned many new principles of my faith. I will never forget these things. During one of our trips to Indiana, I asked him: “Do you think there is more time before Jesus Christ comes for his bride—his church?” His response was: “I don’t know when Jesus Christ will come. I am too preoccupied on being ready and preparing myself in case God asks me to come home to Him. His words have remained as one of my favorite mottos in life. Both my daughter and I (who have traveled to India together) will never forget our first time spent at Dr. P.P. Job’s orphanage and with his wonderful daughters in Christ. Although I am grieving over his departure, I am convinced that God has not made a mistake in calling him home. I cannot even imagine the beautiful, heavenly home where Dr. P.P. Job now resides. I solemnly promise that I will always remain a servant to the places where Dr. P.P. Job so fervently and passionately served—India. With a broken, but peaceful heart, I am finally saying goodbye to one of God’s most precious servants, a true titan of Christian faith. Goodbye Dr. P.P. Job… We will meet again in heaven. Condolences from my family, Genesis Mission, and the Romanian Church to Dr. Mary and her beloved family… Rev. ILIE U. TOMUTA Dir. Beloved fellow saints of Christ: our dear and respected brother Job has finally graduated to a better and most deserving post much closer to Jesus than ever before. Of course, we who are still here will miss him greatly, but he had to move on as his scheduled time to graduate had come. He will now be able to do many of those things he so passionately dreamed about and that is a wonderful thing. Reunited with Christ and Richard Wurmbrand he will surely have much to talk about. The fresh responsibilities of his family and inner-circle staff is also a great step towards maturity in the Holy Spirit for all those who truly thank God for the exceptional example of Brother Job and the inspiration he was to us all. As we swiftly move towards the final stages of the Endtime events prior to our Lord's return to Earth, it is exciting and comforting to know that our brother DR. PP Job is right up there in the heavenly dimensions side by side with all the glorified saints, doing what he loves best: serving God in Christ Jesus.
