A church in Bangalore was ransacked by suspected robbers who fled with Rs 10,000 cash.
Christian leaders in the city however suspect it to be part of the ongoing rioting against the community, as more churches and prayer halls have been attacked.
According to Superintendent of Police, Bangalore Rural District, BA Mahesh, some miscreants had forcibly entered the church and fled with Rs 10,000 cash, expensive audio speakers and amplifier, in all valued at Rs 80,000.
They also opened the donation box and took away Rs. 10,000, the official said adding that police are investigating the case and would arrest the culprits.
Police admitted that a person deployed for security to the Sacred Heart Church on Kottanur Road was absent on the day the robbery took place.
Churches and prayer halls in the state have been targets of vandalism, as Hindu fanatic groups, the RSS, VHP and Bajrang Dal, allege forced conversions by Christian missionaries. Over 30 prayer halls were attacked during the mayhem.
